A 17th century trailblazer rediscovered.

Michaelina Wautier is one of the most remarkable artists of the seventeenth century. Working in Brussels at a time when women painters were expected to confine themselves to modest subjects, she demonstrated a mastery that stretched from refined portraits to powerful mythological scenes.

During this exhibition, three works from The Phoebus Foundation’s collection will be on view, offering a compelling glimpse into the breadth and strength of her oeuvre.
