The Rose Garden / Arne Quinze
Park and sculptures draw on the Renaissance ideal in which art, architecture and landscape merged into a harmonious whole. At Singelberg Sculpture Park, the sculpture garden forms a quiet enclave within the industrial backdrop of Antwerp’s harbour. From the garden, the silhouettes of the cathedral, the Boerentoren and Antwerp’s churches emerge as distant outlines along the banks of the Scheldt.
Within the sculpture park unfolds a dreamlike landscape of monumental forms. With The Rose Garden, Arne Quinze creates a universe in which nature and imagination flow into one another. Sculptures rise like roses that have outgrown their natural proportions, while shimmering Murano glass dew drops refract the light into fleeting shades of colour.

I drew inspiration from the rich tradition of European still-life painting, where the rose has long symbolized beauty, fragility, and transience. With this work, I wanted to move beyond the canvas and transform that symbolism into an immersive environment that visitors can physically enter.
Arne Quinze

The Rose Garden invites visitors to immerse themselves in an overwhelming floral landscape where colour, light and scale blur the boundaries between nature and imagination. At the same time, the work reflects the resilience of nature, where contrast, variation and harmony continuously coexist.
