161-001 in the Boerentoren | Plural Aesthetic

On Friday 30 October, Plural Aesthetic presents its first production, 161-001, at Antwerp’s Boerentoren. Plural Aesthetic is an interdisciplinary curatorial platform that brings new visual art and music into dialogue through one-off productions staged in distinctive architectural settings.

For this edition, Belgian-Congolese artist Kim Mupangilaï has created the sculptural work Other Tongues 00, developed in dialogue with Plureal, a new composition by pianist and composer Raphael Becker. Becker will also perform his own interpretation of Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Sonata.

The Boerentoren is more than just a backdrop. As the building itself undergoes a major transformation, music, sculpture and architecture come together around shared ideas of history, interpretation and change.

161-001 is presented in collaboration with Katoen Natie and The Phoebus Foundation.
